PT SIS is ready to unveil the Suzuki eWX concept electric car at the IIMS 2025 event; here's how it looks.
KatadataOTO – PT SIS (Suzuki Indomobil Sales) was previously rumored to be bringing in the Fronx hybrid car as a replacement for the Ignis in the Indonesian market. However, the exact timing is not yet known, although IIMS 2025 is one of the opportunities for them to present a new model.
Based on KatadataOTO's search at the exhibition location on Wednesday (12/2), a car unit wrapped in a black cover was seen, having a posture identical to the eWX concept car, also known as the electric version of the Suzuki Karimun.
This electric car, which is still a prototype, previously debuted at the Japan Mobility Show in 2023. The model will make its public debut at IIMS 2025.
Although Suzuki did not provide detailed information about the concept car, they confirmed that the product has never been shown to the Indonesian public before.
“We will provide an important and interesting surprise at IIMS 2025, featuring a global concept product that is being introduced in Indonesia for the first time,” said Zulfikar Rafi Al Ghany, Head of PR at PT SIS in Jakarta recently.
The Suzuki eWX is touted as the electric-powered version of the Karimun Wagon R. Since it is still a prototype, its appearance is futuristic and striking, wrapped in a gray color with yellow accents on several parts such as the fog lamp frames, mirrors, glass, and rims.
In terms of dimensions, the Suzuki eWX has measurements of L x W x H 3,395 mm x 1,475 mm x 1,620 mm. It turns out not to be much different from the three-door Jimny, which is 3,652 mm x 1,645 mm x 1,720 mm.
There is still no official information regarding the specifications of the Suzuki eWX, but it is mentioned that the electric version of the Karimun Wagon R has a range of 230 km on a single charge.
For your information, Suzuki previously introduced the eVX Concept at the GIIAS 2024 (Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show) exhibition, for the first time in Southeast Asia.
Its size is larger than the eWX and it carries an off-road SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle) concept with a length of 4,300 mm, a width of 1,800 mm, and a height of 1,800 mm.
It will then be equipped with a number of features to support off-road needs, such as 4WD All Grip, which has been optimized for electric vehicles.
The latest news about the Suzuki eVX is that its production version will use Blade Battery from the Chinese manufacturer, BYD (Build Your Dreams).
The light weight of the battery and LFP material is claimed to maximize the performance and technology of the production version of the eVX electric SUV.
