The fate of Chery Tiggo 7 after the Tiggo 8 CSH's debut, sales plummeted.

KatadataOTO – PT CSI (Chery Sales Indonesia) has the Tiggo SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle) series line, which includes several models. One of them is the Tiggo 7.

However, referring to data from Gaikindo (Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries), it seems that model is no longer a sales focus, especially since the Tiggo 8 CSH (Chery Super Hybrid) was introduced.

Throughout 2025, or the period from January to April, a total of only 27 units were distributed on a wholesale basis, or from the factory to dealers.

Chery Indonesia revealed that the manufacturer is currently clearing out the dwindling stock of the Tiggo 7 model at several dealerships.

“So far, we are actually focusing more (on sales) of the Tiggo 8. As for CSI, there is no more stock,” said Budi Darmawan, Sales Director of PT CSI, when met in Bekasi some time ago.

When asked about the possibility of discontinuation, Budi affirmed that there are no plans to stop selling the Tiggo 7.

“Of course not (discontinued). We are still looking at the strategy, because each of the Tiggo 5, 6, and 7 models has a different segmentation,” Budi asserted.

Processed from Gaikindo data, in January 2025, 25 units of the Tiggo 7 were distributed to dealers. As many as 24 of them were the Tiggo 7 Pro Luxury, with the rest being the lowest variant, the Tiggo 7 Pro Premium.

In February, the numbers plummeted further, with only two units of the Tiggo 7 Pro Luxury sent to dealers. The highest trim level contributed no units at all.

Meanwhile, in March and April, the numbers were zero. Currently, Chery's sales are supported by the J6 electric car model, which is sold for Rp 500 million to over Rp 600 million.

The Tiggo 7 Pro was launched towards the end of November 2022 along with the Tiggo 8 Pro.

There are several differences, such as passenger and engine capacity. The Tiggo 7 Pro is a 5-seater with a 1,500 cc engine, while the Tiggo 8 Pro is a 7-seater SUV with two engine options, 1,600 cc and 2,000 cc.

The power output is claimed to reach 155 hp and a peak torque of 230 Nm, delivered to the front wheels via a CVT transmission.

Meanwhile, the Tiggo 8 CSH (Chery Super Hybrid), PT CSI's first PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle), is touted to be the new backbone of sales this year.

With a price tag in the Rp 500 million range, the Tiggo 8 CSH is expected to add a competitively priced 7-seater hybrid technology SUV option for consumers in the country.
