KatadataOTO – Four-wheeled vehicle sales in Indonesia are starting to improve. Retail figures (distribution from dealers to consumers) rose in February 2025 to 69,872 units from 64,029 units in January.

Referring to data from Gaikindo (Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries), Toyota remains in the lead with an achievement of 22,222 units, followed by Daihatsu with 12,501 units.

Both brands also saw an increase compared to January 2025. In third position, Honda actually experienced a decline from 8,757 units to 7,754 units in February.

Mitsubishi maintained its fourth position, contributing 6,176 units, followed by Suzuki in fifth place with 5,068 units.

Interestingly, four automotive brands from China made it into the top 10: Wuling, BYDChery, and Denza. Wuling was the highest among them, securing the eighth position with 2,033 units.

Following that, BYD's achievement slowly overtook Chery's. BYD delivered 1,488 units to consumers in February, while Chery delivered 1,327 units.

This was supported by BYD's aggressive introduction of new models. At the IIMS 2025 event, they brought the Sealion 7, which is touted as the SUV version of the Seal sedan.

In terms of price, it is also not much different. Still offered in the range of Rp 600 million and above, making it increasingly competitive against its rivals.

Meanwhile, Chery has once again introduced a new model targeting the entry-level class, the Tiggo Cross, as an update to the Tiggo 5X. Priced in the Rp 200 million range, it is within the purchasing power of the public today.
