KatadataOTO – Sales of Toyota and Lexus in the first half of fiscal year 2026 have experienced growth. Impressively, they successfully delivered 5.2 million vehicles to customers, more than the 5.02 million units in the same period last year.
Of this total, the electrified vehicle market saw quite significant growth. The manufacturer shipped 2.47 million units, an increase compared to the 2.23 million units in the same period last year.
This record means that electrified car sales for Toyota and Lexus accounted for 46.9 percent of the total market.
Looking in more detail, hybrid cars are the most sought-after electrified vehicles. A total of 2.27 million units were successfully sold, far higher than the 101,000 units of EVs released.
Meanwhile, for PHEV vehicles, Toyota and Lexus have released 98,000 units worldwide. This number will certainly continue to grow as the company offers more model choices to the market.
Despite pressure from the United States, Toyota is optimistic about its growth in fiscal year 2026. They have even revised their profit projection to be higher than before.
In their report, they estimate a profit of 3.4 trillion Yen or Rp 368.3 trillion throughout fiscal year 2026. That figure is a significant increase from the previous 3.2 trillion yen or Rp 346.7 trillion.
The world's best-selling car manufacturer acknowledges that there are many challenges this year, ranging from the implementation of new tariffs in the United States to the tight competition for electric vehicles in China.
“But the company's sales volume and profits remain optimal,” affirmed Kenta Kon, Chief Financial Officer of Toyota Motor Corporation.
The company will also implement other strategies to achieve greater profits, from increasing sales volume in several regions to taking advantage of currency weakening.
In addition, Toyota will also optimize the Indian market, which is considered to have bright prospects. Growth there is believed to be able to offset the pressure from the United States.
