KatadataOTO – Toyota Urban Cruiser EV was officially introduced at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2025. The presence of this electric car is expected to demonstrate the company's commitment to the development of electrified vehicles in the country.

Jap Ernando Demily, Marketing Director of PT Toyota Astra Motor, revealed that the Toyota Urban Cruiser EV is still purely in the introductory stage. As for the launch itself, the timing has not yet been confirmed.

“Today we are just introducing it first and will see what the market response is like. So there is no decision on when it will be launched because it is still a long way off,” he said at GIIAS 2025.

It was previously reported that the Toyota Urban Cruiser EV was first launched at the Brussels Motor Show 2025. This car comes with a friendlier design compared to the bZ4X, which is considered aggressive.

Nevertheless, Toyota has maintained the hammerhead concept, which is one of the hallmarks of the company's current electric cars.

The Toyota Urban Cruiser EV has fairly compact dimensions: 4,285 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, 1,640 mm in height, and a 2,700 mm wheelbase. Thanks to this, the car is claimed to be comfortable for driving, especially in urban areas.

Inside the cabin, Toyota has added several features to enhance driving comfort. One of them is a 10.1-inch head unit and a 10.25-inch instrument panel.

Several safety features have also been embedded by the manufacturer, such as ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) and a 360-degree camera. It is hoped that this can assist the driver when maneuvering even on narrow roads.

There are two drivetrain options available for the Toyota Urban Cruiser EV that can be chosen according to needs: FWD (Front Wheel Drive) and AWD (All Wheel Drive). Each is equipped with an LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) battery with a different capacity.

For the Toyota Urban Cruiser EV, its battery capacity is 49 kWh. Meanwhile, for the AWD, the power storage is larger at 61 kWh.

This difference is expected to make it easier for customers to make a choice.
