Toyota Veloz Hybrid's Arrival Won't Shake Chery

KatadataOTO – Currently, many manufacturers are marketing hybrid cars. As did Toyota Astra Motor (TAM) some time ago.

They have just launched the Toyota Veloz Hybrid. The product is a newcomer in the low multi-purpose vehicle (LMPV) segment.

The arrival of this hybrid four-wheeled vehicle provides a new option for automotive enthusiasts.

It also makes the competitive landscape tighter among products in the fuel-efficient, environmentally friendly, and competitively priced segments.

Chery Sales Indonesia (CSI) also positively welcomed the arrival of the Toyota Veloz Hybrid. The brand from China claims not to be bothered by this new car.

“We also have a hybrid, the Tiggo Cross Hybrid, with fuel consumption that we can say is top-notch,” said Zeng Shuo, President Director of Chery Group in Solo, Central Java, some time ago.

According to him, although the Tiggo Cross CSH is in a different class from the Toyota Veloz Hybrid, their product has its own advantages.

So it can be the right choice for consumers. Especially those who are looking for an environmentally friendly vehicle.

“If we use the fuel-to-fuel method and compare it with other hybrids, we are not inferior,” he continued.

Zeng Shuo also compared the performance aspect. The Chery Tiggo Cross CHS can accelerate from a standstill to 100 km per hour in just eight seconds.

The above capability is claimed to be better than other hybrid cars. So it can meet the needs of domestic consumers.

“The others take 10-11 seconds or more, so the performance is very different. The fuel consumption is also almost the same,” Zeng Shuo emphasized.

It was further explained that their products are based on the Super Hybrid Platform.

This platform is considered capable of meeting the needs of consumers. Especially domestic buyers.

“So it's more sophisticated, we can get benefits like good performance and also good fuel consumption,” he concluded.

As a reminder, the Chery Tiggo Cross CSH is equipped with a 1,498 cc engine combined with an electric motor.

The power produced is claimed to reach 201 hp. Then the peak torque reaches 319 Nm.

Then there is a Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery, with a capacity of 1.8 kWh.

Meanwhile, the Toyota Veloz Hybrid relies on an NR-VEX coded engine with a capacity of 1,496 cc and VVT-i technology. It is said to be able to produce 90 hp of power and 121 Nm of torque.

This powertrain is paired with an electric motor producing 79 hp and 141 Nm of torque. It is also combined with an NMC battery with a capacity of 0.74 kWh.
