KatadataOTO – VinFast is showing its seriousness in the Indonesian market. Because they are currently building a factory in Subang, West Java.
In fact, the construction of the facility is expected to be completed soon. Then it will be operational in the near future.
“We have also decided to build a factory in Subang. We hope to complete it before the end of the year,” said Amb Pham Sanh Chau, CEO (Chief Executive Officer) of VinFast Asia in South Jakarta, Tuesday (11/02).
Sanh further stated that various preparations are underway. So that the VinFast factory in Subang can soon assemble their flagship electric cars.
“We have held the groundbreaking ceremony to build the factory, everything is according to plan,” he continued.
Later, a number of EVs (Electric Vehicles) will be assembled there. Such as the VinFast VF 3, VF 5, VF 6, and VF 7 for the domestic market.
It will then become VinFast's production base for right-hand drive vehicles. It is also expected to help the government's target of achieving carbon neutrality.
As a reminder, the VinFast production facility stands on a 170-hectare plot of land. It involves an investment value of 200 million dollars or around Rp 3.2 trillion.
It consists of several main areas such as the Body Shop, General Assembly Shop, Paint Shop, testing area, and others.
Therefore, it is expected to create many new job opportunities. And be able to absorb 1,000 to 3,000 workers.
Some time ago, VinFast explored the opportunity to invest its money in South Sulawesi.
This was done to strengthen the Vietnamese manufacturer's position as an electric car maker in the country.
"Makassar is a very beautiful city, so we must preserve it. This hope is in line with the development of the electric vehicle ecosystem here," said Amb Pham Sanh Chau on a separate occasion some time ago.
On the other hand, Rahman Arif, President Director of PT Tiran Group, who accompanied the delegation, stated that VinFast intends to invest in South Sulawesi.
They believe that EVs can dominate sales in the future. And serve as a mobility solution for the public.
"Besides the investment system, they (Vinfast) are also thinking about the ecosystem because there are various things that can be done,” said Rahman.
