KatadataOTO – VinFast Indonesia collaborated with a renowned local designer at the GIIAS 2025 event. The result of their collaboration captured the attention of exhibition visitors.

This was because the work of Didiet Maulana, a famous designer, adorned the VinFast booth. Four of the Vietnamese brand's main ushers wore outfits that merged two cultures.

Didiet incorporated Indonesian culture and packaged it using traditional Vietnamese design. This collaboration is expected to elevate Indonesian culture.

“We started with something simple. If you look at last year's GIIAS, we highlighted Vietnamese characteristics in the ushers' attire. But I thought, why not also promote our culture,” said Kariyanto Hardjosoemarto, CEO of VinFast Indonesia (24/07).

Didiet Maulana himself is known as a designer who faithfully promotes the textile heritage of the archipelago.

He was given the challenge of incorporating the philosophy of Indonesian culture into the design of the ao dai, a traditional Vietnamese garment.

The VinFast ushers at GIIAS 2025 wore traditional costumes rich in Vietnamese culture.

“For several months, we researched the traditional Vietnamese garment, the ao dai. But the most unique part was combining cultures using the ikat technique that we have been developing for over a decade,” explained Didiet.

The designer revealed that the inspiration used refers to the lotus flower. This flower is the national symbol of Vietnam.

This main element was paired with the distinctive Indonesian ikat weaving technique.

“I was touched because VinFast wanted to incorporate nuances of Indonesian culture. This has never been done before, and I felt challenged to provide something new,” added Didiet Maulana.

According to him, the automotive and fashion worlds have similarities: both must be adaptive, innovative, and prioritize comfort.

At GIIAS 2025, VinFast is not only showcasing futuristic technology cars. But also continues to respect the culture of the place where they are growing.
