KatadataOTO – VinFast enlivened the Gaikindo Jakarta Auto Week 2025 by bringing the Limo Green and the VF Wild concept electric car. However, the electric blind van EC Van registered by the Vietnamese brand was notably absent.

There was speculation that the VinFast EC Van would be the model exhibited in the country. This is because the model's design has been registered on the Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DJKI) website.

In response, VinFast confirmed that the VinFast EC Van will indeed be brought to Indonesia starting in 2026.

“The EC Van will also be introduced, still next year. That's why we have already registered it (in Indonesia),” said Kariyanto Hardjosoemarto, CEO of VinFast Indonesia in Tangerang, recently.

The model will fill the commercial segment, which doesn't have many players yet. Besides the VinFast EC Van, there is the DFSK Gelora E blind van.

Then from Japanese manufacturers, there is the Mitsubishi L100 EV. Meanwhile, Honda is only offering its electric commercial vehicle for study and limited fleet customers.

According to him, the need for electric vehicles in the commercial segment is becoming apparent, especially for inner-city use.

This is due to various advantages it possesses. For example, cost efficiency and maintenance costs tend to be lower than conventional engine cars.

“We see the segment is there, for needs such as intercity Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) delivery, then for shipping slightly larger packages, and so on,” said Kariyanto.

However, he was still reluctant to elaborate further on the price range of the VinFast EC Van and its exact launch date.

The EC Van debuted in Vietnam on May 13, 2025, becoming the first electric cargo car in its home country.

Its design is compact but equipped with a spacious cargo area of 2,600 liters. The maximum weight it can accommodate is 600 kilograms.

Its L x W x H dimensions are 3,767 mm x 1,680 mm x 1,790 mm. In Vietnam, this car is used as a delivery fleet as part of the Xanh SM or Green SM in Indonesia service.
