KatadataOTO – Although produced directly in Indonesia, VinFast revealed that it does not necessarily mean the selling price will decrease. This is because the cars currently sold in the country already receive various incentives.

Thus, the offering price is already very competitive. Therefore, the price of locally made cars cannot be cheaper.

“Although the cars we sell are still CBU, all units have received incentives from the government. So, the price will likely not be different,” said Kariyanto Hardjosoemarto, CEO of VinFast Indonesia (15/12).

The types of incentives for CBU electric cars are very diverse, such as exemption from vehicle import duties to luxury goods sales tax (PPnBM). Thus, the price is not much different compared to local production.

“So, the price of VinFast CKD will not be different compared to CBU products,” he then added.

He also revealed that CKD products will start to be distributed next year. The VF 3 will be the first model produced in Indonesia, followed by other products according to market needs.

“The models to be produced here include the VF 3, VF 5, VF 6, VF 7, and later an MPV. We are aware that the potential in that segment is still very large in Indonesia,” he concluded.

It was previously reported that VinFast officially opened their factory in Subang, Indonesia. Its presence demonstrates the company's commitment to developing the electric car market in the country.

This facility stands on a 171-hectare plot of land and was built in several phases. The first phase was completed in just 17 months and cost IDR 4.8 trillion to build.

VinFast claims that with this, they are able to produce at least 50,000 vehicle units each year. This number is considered more than enough for the Indonesian market and even for export.

Meanwhile, the next phase will be built gradually, according to market needs. If all phases are completed, the investment will reach USD 1 billion and production capacity could increase to 350,000 units per year.
