KatadataOTOBYD continues to achieve impressive results in the Indonesian automotive industry. They proved this through sales in the first quarter of 2025.

This electric car manufacturer claims to have successfully sold thousands of its products to consumers in the country.

“BYD Indonesia has consistently been a major contributor with sales of more than 8,200 units,” said Nathan Sun, Operational Director of BYD Motor Indonesia at PEVS 2025, on Tuesday (29/04).

Nathan explained that with the achievement above, they have successfully reached a national electric car market share of 50 percent.

This positive performance is in line with the global sales growth of electric vehicles (EVs) from the Chinese brand.

Sales of BYD's pure battery electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles from January to March 2025 increased by 59.8 percent globally.

Meanwhile in 2024, BYD sold a total of 4.27 million environmentally friendly four-wheeled vehicles in various parts of the world.

“BYD's exports also stood out significantly, reaching more than 72,000 units in March 2025 alone,” said Nathan.

The figure above is a new record for BYD. It is claimed to be an increase of up to 89 percent compared to the same period last year.

Ready to Market More EVs

On the other hand, BYD supports the acceleration of EV distribution to various consumers in the country. One way is by expanding the reach of its distribution network.

To date, BYD is recorded to have 50 dealers spread across 27 cities throughout Indonesia. Thus, they are getting closer to consumers in various regions.

It is hoped that more people will be interested in buying BYD electric cars or Denza in the future.

“This achievement encourages us to continue contributing as a pillar of electric vehicle growth in Indonesia,” said Luther Panjaitan, Head of Public and Government Relations at BYD Motor Indonesia.

As a reminder, BYD has already marketed several electric car models in the country. For example, the Atto 3, Seal, Dolphin, M6, and Sealion 7.

Meanwhile, Denza has launched the D9 to enter the premium electric car segment in the country.

“This trust is a reflection of the support for BYD's vision in building green mobility through innovative products and technology,” Luther concluded.
