KatadataOTO – Maruti Suzuki India Limited has officially started exporting their electric vehicle, the eVitara. This is the first time India has become an EV supplier for other countries.

Shipments were made at the end of August 2025. At that time, 2,900 units of the Suzuki eVitara were shipped from Pipavav Port in Gujarat to 12 European countries. Including the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Norway, Denmark, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Sweden, Hungary, Iceland, Austria, and Belgium.

The export activities received a positive response from the local government. Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, revealed that the start of these exports has established their country as a global EV manufacturer.

The start of Suzuki eVitara vehicle production in Hansalpur is part of the company's global strategy to make India a major production base. Because in addition to Europe, the electric car will also be exported to more than 100 countries, as well as being sold in the domestic market.

Meanwhile, the Suzuki eVitara itself was introduced in Indonesia at GIIAS 2025. At that time, the car immediately received a positive response from the public.

PT Suzuki Indomobil Sales also revealed that the model is planned to be sold in Indonesia in 2026. However, they have not yet explained in detail whether it will be produced domestically or imported directly from India.

The manufacturer must consider public enthusiasm for their electric car, so that the product can hopefully endure in the face of competition.

“This is also (related to) volume, consumer response, and so on,” said Shodiq Wicaksono, Managing Director of PT Suzuki Indomobil Motor (SIM) some time ago.

It should be noted that the Suzuki eVitara is equipped with a 49 kWh LFP battery with a claimed range of up to 346 km on a full charge.

If you want to drive further, you can choose the unit that uses a 61 kWh battery. Thanks to that, the car can travel a distance of 428 km using the WLTP method.

The Suzuki eVitara is also equipped with two drivetrain options. The first is 2WD (Wheel Drive) with a single electric motor and the second is the 4WD All-Grip e-system.
