Given the current situation, Yamaha believes the performance of the new motorcycle market cannot yet be predicted until the end of the year.

KatadataOTO – The new motorcycle market in Indonesia is still struggling to recover. However, this is proving to be quite difficult.
This is because a number of obstacles are hindering two-wheeled vehicle sales throughout 2025.
Starting with weak economic conditions. This has disrupted the public's purchasing power.
Then, the uncertain domestic political situation led to high-escalation demonstrations at the end of August 2025.
Demonstrations occurred in several cities. Starting from Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, Yogyakarta to Makassar.
This is again predicted to make people reluctant to spend their money. Consequently, new motorcycle sales in 2025 will be disrupted.
Seeing the various facts above, Yamaha Indonesia Motor Manufacturing (YIMM) assesses that the performance of the new motorcycle market remains uncertain until the end of the year.
“Conditions like this cannot be predicted. Especially the social, economic, and political (factors) are very influential,” said Rifki Maulana, PR, YRA & Community Manager of YIMM in Bandung, West Java last week.
Rifki explained that social, economic, and political factors cannot be controlled by manufacturers.
Therefore, the market conditions for two-wheeled vehicles in the country will remain very challenging.
Thus, manufacturers must work hard again. They have to boost sales in the remaining time.
“Again, we always strive to provide the best for consumers,” Rifki continued.
Yamaha also hopes that the domestic situation can soon become conducive, and even recover as before.
Including an improvement in economic conditions. So that people will be willing to spend their money to buy new motorcycles.
“Hopefully, the entire two-wheeled industry will remain fine. And the (new motorcycle sales) target can be achieved,” Rifki affirmed.
As a reminder, the Indonesian Motorcycle Industry Association (AISI) has set a sales target for new motorcycles throughout 2025 at 6.4 million units.
However, to reach that number, two-wheeled vehicle manufacturers must work extra hard.
This is because from January to July 2025, only 3,692,048 units of two-wheeled vehicles were distributed from factories to dealers (wholesales).
The number above is down about 2.07 percent compared to last year. Because in the same period in 2024, it reached 3,769,901 units.
However, there is still a chance for Yamaha, Honda, and Kawasaki to boost sales. Because at the end of September, AISI will hold IMOS 2025 at ICE BSD, Tangerang.
