KatadataOTO – Sales of new motorcycles in 2024 showed positive growth. This has made a number of parties happy.
No exception for AISI (Indonesian Motorcycle Industry Association). Because it was able to achieve the predetermined target.
Based on the above, they hope a similar achievement will also occur in the new two-wheeled vehicle market in 2025.
“We really hope it will be positive. Better than last year,” said Sigit Kumala, Head of the Commercial Division of AISI to KatadataOTO recently.
However, Sigit was reluctant to reveal the target figure for new motorcycle sales in 2025. He admitted that AISI is still calculating.
This is because a number of regions are currently looking for the right formula regarding the implementation of the surcharge for PKB (Motor Vehicle Tax) and BBNKB (Vehicle Title Transfer Fee).
This is so as not to burden the public. As has been done by East Java, West Java, Central Java, Yogyakarta, and Banten.
“We are still waiting for the full implementation of the surcharge in several regions, only after everything is in place will we set the target for this year,” he continued.
Furthermore, Sigit stated that AISI will announce the target figure they want to achieve in 2025 in the near future.
“Maybe next week, it will usually be more complete,” affirmed the Head of the Commercial Division of AISI.
As previously reported by KatadataOTO, sales of new two-wheeled vehicles in the domestic market in 2024 reached 6,333,310 units.
Meanwhile, the export market was also no less positive. From January to December 2024, it was at the level of 572,506.
If you look at it, the achievement above is an excellent accomplishment for new motorcycle sales in Indonesia. Considering there were various challenges last year.
For example, credit tightening at the beginning of the year, numerous collective leave days and public holidays, the implementation of the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres), to the weakening of the rupiah's exchange rate against the dollar.
These several stumbling blocks significantly affected the purchasing power of the people in the country, even said to be sluggish.
However, the two-wheeled vehicle industry was able to show growth. And could face the various existing challenges.
On the other hand, new motorcycle sales in 2024 surpassed the achievement of the previous year. Because in 2023, domestic sales recorded 6,236,992 and exports 570,004.
