KatadataOTO – The two-wheeled vehicle industry has successfully achieved excellent results. This is because new motorcycle sales in February 2025 showed growth.

According to records from AISI (Indonesian Motorcycle Industry Association), there were 581,277 two-wheeled vehicles sent from factories to dealers, or what is commonly called wholesales.

The number above increased by 4.04 percent when compared to the data from February 2024. This is because in that period, only 558,685 units were recorded.

Seeing the achievement above, AISI admitted to being quite pleased with the brilliant sales performance of new motorcycles.

They also revealed that there are a number of factors why the two-wheeled vehicle market revived in the second month of 2025.

"First, motorcycles are currently perceived by consumers as an affordable means of transportation," said Sigit Kumala, Head of the Commercial Division of AISI to KatadataOTO, Wednesday (12/03).

Then there are several stimuli that encourage people to spend their money.

For example, the option of a low down payment or DP (Down Payment). So many people want to buy a new motorcycle.

"Then if you look at the (numbers for) motorcycle credit, the current condition is stable. There are no fluctuations or increases either," Sigit continued.

Finally, the relaxation related to the implementation of the surtax on PKB (Motor Vehicle Tax) and BBNKB (Vehicle Title Transfer Fee), in a number of regions also contributed to increasing sales throughout February 2025.

Still Minus 0.8 Percent

Nevertheless, Sigit noted that new motorcycle sales figures this year are still down by 0.8 percent, when compared to the achievement in 2024.

Sigit detailed that from January to February 2025, the figure was only 1,141,578 units.

Meanwhile, in the same period in 2024, it managed to break the level of 1,151,343 motorcycle units.

"Looking at the situation, purchasing power, and current economic conditions, that (figure) can still be said to be quite positive," he said.

He revealed that the condition they are experiencing is not bad. Considering that the four-wheeled vehicle segment was hit quite hard.

Even so, AISI hopes that the market condition for new two-wheeled vehicles in the country can improve soon in the future.

So it can have a positive impact on various sectors, as there are still some economic challenges in 2025.
