KatadataOTO – The new motorcycle market in Indonesia in 2025 is still less than satisfactory. This is because from January to July, only 3,692,048 units were distributed from factories to dealers (wholesales).
The number above is down about 2.07 percent compared to last year. Because in the same period in 2024, it reached 3,769,901 units.
Seeing the facts above, two-wheeled vehicle manufacturers must try to stimulate the market in the country.
The Indonesian Motorcycle Industry Association (AISI) also mentioned that one of the efforts they will make is to present new products.
“Several members seem to be releasing a number of new models in the second semester,” said Sigit Kumala, Head of the Commercial Division of AISI to KatadataOTO, Wednesday (20/08).
However, Sigit did not specify in detail about the new motorcycles that will be marketed to consumers in Indonesia.
Whether they will be launched by Astra Honda Motor (AHM), Yamaha Indonesia Motor Manufacturing (YIMM) or other manufacturers.
“It's better to ask the brand holders directly (about the new motorcycles that will be sold),” Sigit continued.
On the other hand, it is very likely that these new motorcycles will be marketed at the Indonesia Motorcycle Show (IMOS) 2025. Considering the exhibition will take place on September 24-28, 2025.
It becomes an opportunity for Yamaha, Honda, and Kawasaki to bring their new products there.
“We will offer based on what consumer needs are. We will adjust to that,” he added.
With the presence of new motorcycles in the country's two-wheeled vehicle market, Sigit hopes to entice the public to spend their money.
If that happens, motorcycle sales in the country could automatically increase, especially in the second semester of 2025.
Moreover, according to Sigit, the government plans to make purchases. An opportunity for Honda and Yamaha to sell their products.
In addition, AISI has set a sales target for new motorcycles throughout 2025 at 6.4 million units.
So, the presence of new motorcycles and the holding of IMOS 2025 are truly expected to boost sales in the remainder of this year. So that AISI can achieve the target that has been set.
“We also have to collaborate with finance companies so that we can increase these sales in the second semester,” Sigit concluded his statement.
