KatadataOTO – The delayed disbursement of electric motorcycle incentives is pushing manufacturers to find various ways to market their products. For example, by offering significant discounts.
This method was previously used by a number of Honda dealers as an effort to attract domestic consumers.
Take for example a dealer in Bandung offering a discount of up to Rp 41 million for the purchase of a Honda CUV e:. From an on-the-road price of Rp 60.47 million in the 'Flower City', it became Rp 19.3 million.
Then at the Jakarta Fair 2025 event, the CUV e: was sold for only Rp 20 million. Whereas its normal price ranges from Rp 54.4 million to Rp 59.6 million.
Then the Honda EM1 e: was also not exempt from discounts at the Jakarta Fair 2025, originally sold for Rp 40 million, it became just Rp 17 million.
Seeing this, a number of parties have tried to speak out, such as the Indonesian Electric Motorcycle Association (Aismoli).
“As for market growth, it's quite positive, certainly many of our people buy goods relying on discount schemes,” said Budi Setiyadi, Chairman of Aismoli, when contacted by KatadataOTO some time ago.
Budi explained that the program would have a positive impact. Such as encouraging people to switch from conventional two-wheeled vehicles.
So that more and more people in the country use electric motorcycles for daily activities.
“The more electric motorcycles used by the public, the better,” Budi continued.
With the increasingly massive use of electric two-wheeled vehicles, the Fuel Oil (BBM) subsidy can be reduced.
So it can help the government save on the budget. Especially in the current economic conditions.
“In my opinion, it's quite creative for each manufacturer's marketing team to be able to continue selling,” Budi emphasized.
On the other hand, Astra Honda Motor (AHM) also responded regarding the electric motorcycle discounts given by a number of their dealers.
According to the manufacturer with the flapping wing logo, there was indeed a price reduction program for the public some time ago.
“So indeed we have (discounts) in certain periods that try to give consumers the opportunity to own our CUV e:,” said Ahmad Muhibbuddin, General Manager of Corporate Communication at PT AHM on a separate occasion.
It is hoped that with this program, more domestic consumers will want to buy a Honda electric motorcycle.
