KatadataOTO – Yamaha has finally officially launched an electric motorcycle. However, it is not the E01 and Neos that have been tested in Indonesia.
Reporting from the official Yamaha Global website on Wednesday (12/11), the tuning fork-logoed manufacturer officially launched the Yamaha Aerox E in India yesterday.
“This launch marks an important milestone in Yamaha's long-term vision for sustainable mobility,” wrote Yamaha.
In terms of appearance, the Yamaha electric motorcycle has the look of the second-generation Aerox marketed in the country.
It has sharp curves all over the body, giving a sporty impression to the electric Yamaha Aerox.
Then there is also a digital meter panel. It functions to display various information, such as speed and electricity consumption.
On the left and right handlebars, a number of buttons are embedded to operate various features.
In terms of performance, the Yamaha Aerox X is equipped with a 9.4 kW or 12.6 hp drive motor. The peak torque reaches 48 Nm.
Furthermore, it is supported by two batteries. Each has a capacity of 3 kWh, for a combined total of 6 kWh.
In addition, the Yamaha Aerox E is also equipped with three riding modes, ranging from Eco, Standard to Power.
Yamaha also provides a boost feature to deliver faster acceleration. Owners can also operate Reverse mode to move the vehicle backward.
Various modern features are also equipped on the Yamaha electric motorcycle. Take Y-Connect for example, which allows owners to connect to the vehicle via a smart device.
There are also navigation features, a Traction Control System (TCS), front and rear disc brakes, single-channel ABS, and a Smart Key or Keyless system.
To further pamper owners, the Yamaha Aerox E is also equipped with a USB port, so you can charge your smart devices.
Unfortunately, the Yamaha Aerox E is not yet marketed for consumers in Indonesia, as it was just developed and launched specifically for the conditions and user preferences in India.
“Although it may be exported in the future, India will remain the main focus market initially,” they continued.
Deliveries of the electric Yamaha Aerox will be carried out later, after a sufficient number of public electric vehicle charging stations are available in major cities.
Meanwhile, the price announcement for the Yamaha Aerox E will only be made in the first quarter of 2026 after all preparations have been completed.
