KatadataOTO – Yamaha is participating in the Japan Mobility Show 2025 automotive exhibition series, which is still ongoing until this coming November 9th.

At its booth, there is one unit attracting a lot of visitor attention: a concept motorcycle with an eccentric and futuristic appearance.

Unlike the structure of conventional motorcycles, there are no visible handlebars stretching across the front, nor is there a seat.

The concept motorcycle is named Motoroid by Yamaha. The initial development version of this futuristic vehicle was first introduced to the public in 2017.

This motorcycle is able to stand on its own without human assistance and communicate autonomously with its owner.

In 2023, the Motoroid appeared with even more capable developments. The motorcycle and rider can interact actively according to the needs while riding.

Its newest version is present at the Japan Mobility Show 2025. According to a statement from Yamaha, the Motoroid utilizes AI and camera technology to support interaction with its owner.

Despite having an unconventional design, the Motoroid is designed with the natural riding posture of a human in mind when operating a motorcycle.

The AI system on the Motoroid was developed exclusively by this manufacturer from Japan, using the name Active Mass Center Control System (AMCES).

AMCES also plays a role in balancing the motorcycle without human assistance and capturing the owner's gestures when about to operate the vehicle.

The motorcycle can then be controlled simply by the rider's gestures and by using controls located at the front of the vehicle.

“Motoroid intends to define the world of two-wheeled vehicles and pioneer a new future,” read Yamaha's official statement, quoted Friday (31/10).

There is no information yet regarding Yamaha's plans to mass-produce the Motoroid in the future.

The product still seems to be a showcase for technology developed by Yamaha and has the potential to be gradually applied to their motorcycle lineup in the future.

Yamaha's product line can be visited at Tokyo Big Sight, Japan during the Japan Mobility Show 2025. There are still a number of other concept vehicles with unique and unconventional shapes that can be seen.
