Maka Motors is reluctant to incorporate IoT in order to keep prices down, making them more affordable for electric motorcycle consumers in Indonesia.

KatadataOTO – At the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2025, Maka Motors showcased the Cavalry model as its flagship to attract visitors. Interestingly, at the exhibition, they introduced an Internet of Things or IoT feature.
Thanks to this feature, owners can connect to their vehicles just through a smartphone. However, this technology is apparently not available to just anyone as it is not yet sold to the general public.
Maka Motors revealed that for now, they are only selling it for fleet purposes, not retail. This is because IoT will affect the price and could potentially burden prospective consumers.
“We are making IoT for B2B first because that segment is not too sensitive to price,” said Arief Fadillah, Chief Technology Officer of Maka Motors.
Not only that, the feature is also generally not really needed by retail consumers, but its price is quite high.
“In our research, we found that the IoT feature is not much needed but becomes very important for fleet consumers,” he then added.
Unfortunately, Arief did not specify the features of the IoT developed by Maka Motors for fleet consumers.
It was previously reported that Maka Motors is present at IIMS 2025 to better introduce their product, the Cavalry, to the public. Various advantages have been embedded in the motorcycle, including a 4 kWh capacity battery.
With this, the motorcycle can travel up to 160 km and reach a speed of 105 km per hour. Its acceleration is also optimal as it can reach 60 km per hour in 4.8 seconds.
Not only that, the manufacturer also claims it can climb inclines of up to 30 degrees and has a 20-liter luggage compartment.
Because road conditions in Indonesia are often flooded during the rainy season, they have designed the motorcycle to continue operating. They even claim the Maka Cavalry can move normally even when the water level reaches 60 cm.
“In our R&D, we have a pool that was specifically made to ensure the motorcycle is not damaged even when crossing through puddles,” concluded Arief Fadillah.
Currently, Maka Motor prices the Cavalry at Rp 35.85 million.
