KatadataOTO – Sales of electric motorcycles in 2025 are indeed far from optimal. Experiencing a significant decline due to several factors.
However, the electric two-wheeler market is expected to recover soon. It is expected to regain momentum in 2026.
The hope above was conveyed directly by the Indonesian Electric Motorcycle Industry Association (Aismoli).
“Aismoli projects better sales growth compared to the current year (2025),” said Budi Setiyadi, Chairman of Aismoli, when contacted by KatadataOTO some time ago.
Budi further explained that Aismoli hopes around 100,000 electric motorcycles can be sold this year.
Because there are several supporting factors that can realize this target. Such as the readiness of the electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem in the country.
“Especially the equitable distribution of infrastructure, product reliability, and increasingly mature after-sales services,” continued Budi.
Thanks to the various factors above, it is believed that it can encourage people to switch from conventional two-wheeled vehicles.
So they are interested in using electric motorcycles. Especially to meet daily mobility needs.
“Consumer trust is the main key to medium and long-term growth,” Budi emphasized.
Even so, Aismoli must work hard if it wants to realize the target they have set.
Considering that in 2026 the economic condition in the country has not fully recovered. So most people choose not to spend their money.
This makes the electric motorcycle market situation in 2026 quite challenging. Aismoli members must prepare various sales strategies.
On the other hand, Selis, Alva, Davigo, United, and Rakata cannot expect much from the incentive plan.
This is because the incentive proposal from the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) is still unclear or lacks clarity.
In fact, the plan was rejected by Airlangga Hartarto, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs. He confirmed that the government does not want to provide incentives next year.
He said there are several reasons why they are reluctant to provide assistance to car and motorcycle manufacturers in the country.
“Incentives have been given for two years to establish factories and the results are already tangible,” said Airlangga on a different occasion.
Thus, it is very unlikely that President Prabowo Subianto and the ministers will provide electric motorcycle incentives in 2026.
