KatadataOTO – The Indonesian electric car market will once again welcome a new product. This time from Eurokars Motor Indonesia (EMI) as the brand holder for Mazda.

They are rumored to be launching an electric sedan for consumers in the country soon, namely the Mazda EZ-6.

This was discovered after a camouflaged Electric Vehicle (EV) was caught undergoing a road test.

Upon closer inspection, the fascia features slim headlights. These are combined with an LED lighting system and Daytime Running Lights (DRL).

Then in photos circulating on the internet, the taillights of this camouflaged four-wheeled vehicle are very similar to those of the Mazda EZ-6.

This is the same as the Mazda EZ-6 that KatadataOTO found at Changan's R&D center in Chongqing, China last year.

It should be noted that the Mazda EZ-6 is built on a similar platform to the Changan Deepal L07, namely the EPA1.

Therefore, at a glance, both electric cars have very similar body proportions, dimensions, and several technical components.

Mazda then made several adjustments to their product. From the exterior to the interior.

On the other hand, signs of the Mazda EZ-6's arrival in Indonesia have been widely circulating for some time. EMI has not even denied that they will have a new EV.

“The plans are already in place,” said Ricky Thio, Chief Operating Officer of PT EMI to KatadataOTO in mid-2025.

According to Ricky, the launch of the Mazda EZ-6 is part of their effort to support the government's commitment to electrification.

It was further mentioned that the Mazda EZ-6 is part of Mazda's strategic electrification steps in the global market.

“We are currently still waiting for strategic direction from Mazda Motor Corporation regarding the marketing plan (for the EZ-6) in the ASEAN region, including Indonesia,” Ricky affirmed.

Thus, the launch of the Mazda EZ-6 could just be a matter of time. Because road tests are usually conducted for products intended for the market.

This step is taken to understand its performance and driving feel on Indonesian roads. So that adjustments can be made if there are any shortcomings.

It should be noted that the Mazda EZ-6 has already been launched in China. This electric car is offered from 119,900 yuan to 160,900 yuan, or around Rp 279 million to Rp 374.4 million in rupiah.
