KatadataOTO – Maka Motors admits to conducting various research before finally deciding to use a fixed battery instead of a swappable one. This step is claimed to influence the future development of the vehicle.
Therefore, they had to consider it carefully to ensure the product they sell is optimal.
“We chose a fixed battery for the Maka Cavalry because we hope riders won't have to worry about finding a replacement location,” said Arief Fadillah, Chief Technology Officer of Maka Motors.
He also revealed that by using a fixed battery, the riding experience is not much different from a conventional motorcycle. This is because owners do not need to lift a heavy battery, making it more practical.
“Additionally, because it is an electric motorcycle, its maintenance is also cheaper. Owners don't need to change oil and so on, so the operational costs will be beneficial,” he added.
It was previously reported that Maka Motors launched its first model, the Cavalry. The product has been developed with various advantages that are claimed to be tailored to the Indonesian market.
The main advantage they rely on is its 4 kWh battery capacity. With this, the motorcycle can travel up to 160 km on a single charge.
Although its range is quite far, the Maka Cavalry is claimed to still have optimal performance. This is because the motorcycle can reach a speed of 105 km per hour.
Not only that, the motorcycle's acceleration is also considered optimal as it can reach 60 km per hour in 4.8 seconds. The manufacturer also claims it can handle inclines of up to 30 degrees and has a 20-liter luggage compartment.
Besides performance, Maka Motors also designed the motorcycle to have an attractive and robust appearance. They even claim to have received direct input from various parties, including online motorcycle taxi drivers.
“When we conducted our study, many people wanted a robust motorcycle, so we focused heavily on that,” he then added.
Because road conditions in Indonesia are often flooded during the rainy season, they have designed the motorcycle to continue operating. They even claim the Maka Cavalry can move normally even when the water level reaches 60 cm.
