KatadataOTO – It cannot be denied, the market performance of new motorcycles in 2025 was quite positive. In fact, distribution from factories to dealers (wholesales) is expected to exceed 6.4 million units.
This result has apparently made the Indonesian Motorcycle Industry Association (AISI), confident in welcoming 2026.
They are optimistic that the new two-wheeled vehicle market this year will once again be able to deliver maximum results.
“There will be an increase (in new motorcycle wholesales), but it might be slight,” said Sigit Kumala, Head of the Commercial Division of AISI, to KatadataOTO some time ago.
According to Sigit, there are several reasons why the new motorcycle market in the country could become vibrant again in 2026.
A series of government projects to be implemented this year are believed to have a positive impact on Astra Honda Motor (AHM), Yamaha, Kawasaki, and TVS.
“We assume there are 32 projects in several sectors that the government will work on; if those proceed, they will boost motorcycle sales,” Sigit continued.
Furthermore, it was mentioned that the strategic projects created by the government are capable of creating new job opportunities.
This way, people can have an income. Then they will be willing to spend their money, especially on two-wheeled vehicles.
“Because there are several sectors that will feel the impact of this new investment growth,” he added.
In addition, AISI also hopes the economic situation can recover completely. So that people's purchasing power improves.
If this can happen this year, it is not impossible that the automotive industry will also feel the positive effects.
“Then it is hoped that with the economy, for example, growing by five percent in 2026, it can create jobs,” Sigit affirmed.
However, Sigit explained that AISI has not yet set a sales target for new motorcycles in 2026.
They will officially announce it in mid-January 2026. So it remains to be seen what figure they aim to achieve.
For your information, AISI reported that new motorcycle wholesales from January to November 2025 reached 5,950,844 units.
The figure above has already surpassed the total for the same period in 2024, which was only 5,929,830 units. There is a difference of about 0.35 percent higher.
This result can be considered quite good, considering there were many obstacles throughout 2025 that affected the wholesales of new two-wheeled vehicles.
If this trend can continue, it is not impossible that new motorcycle wholesales for the entirety of 2025 could reach 6.4 million units or even more.
