KatadataOTO – Sales of new motorcycles in 2024 successfully recorded positive results. According to data from AISI (Indonesian Motorcycle Industry Association) on Sunday (12/1), the domestic market recorded 6,333,310 units.

This figure was achieved throughout 2024. Then last December, sales of 403,480 units were recorded.

Meanwhile, the export market was also equally positive. From January to December 2024, it reached a level of 572,506.

This is certainly a great achievement for new motorcycle sales in Indonesia. Considering there were various challenges last year.

Such as credit tightening at the beginning of the year, numerous collective leave days and public holidays, the presidential election, to the weakening of the rupiah exchange rate against the dollar.

All the obstacles above significantly affected the purchasing power of the people in the country, even reportedly causing it to become sluggish.

However, the two-wheeled vehicle industry continued to grow. It was even claimed to be in line with the previously set AISI target.

“Our target range is between 6.3 million units and 6.4 million units,” said Sigit Kumala, Head of the Commercial Division of AISI, when contacted by KatadataOTO.

On the other hand, new motorcycle sales in 2024 managed to surpass the achievements of the previous year. Because in 2023, domestic sales recorded 6,236,992 and exports 570,004.

Thus, the two-wheeled vehicle market successfully showed an increase. Additionally, it was able to face the various existing challenges.

Of course, the above is inseparable from the efforts of manufacturers to introduce new products to entice consumers in Indonesia.

In addition, various attractive programs such as discounts or price cuts were also offered to boost sales in 2024.
