KatadataOTO – Suzuki Indomobil Sales (SIS) has officially discontinued the sale of the Suzuki Avenis 125 in Indonesia. Therefore, the public can no longer purchase this automatic scooter.
However, the Japanese brand has quietly prepared a replacement for the Suzuki Avenis 125.
"The plan is to have one (a replacement for the Suzuki Avenis 125), still with a gasoline engine," said Teuku Agha Alravy, 2W Sales & Marketing Department Head at SIS, to KatadataOTO on Wednesday (04/06).
Unfortunately, Agha was not yet willing to reveal more details about the new Suzuki motorcycle.
He only explained that the replacement for the Suzuki Avenis 125 will still be an automatic scooter. Suitable for domestic consumers.
"It's an automatic, for the model, wait for the official announcement from Suzuki," he continued.
Then, when asked when the replacement for the Suzuki Avenis 125 would be launched, he was still hesitant to say.
Agha only confirmed that Suzuki's new two-wheeled vehicle candidate will be marketed in the country this year.
"The plan is for this year, in the second semester," Agha affirmed.
Previously, the launch of a new Suzuki motorcycle had been hinted at by Christoporus Prasetyanto, Sales & Digital Marketing Head 2W at SIS.
Christoporus stated that the brand from the Land of the Rising Sun intends to bring in several new two-wheeled vehicles in 2025.
"We will launch two new products in the sport and automatic segments. They will likely be brought in during the second semester of 2025,” he said on a separate occasion.
Just like Agha, he also declined to provide details on which motorcycle would be brought to the country.
According to circulating rumors, the new Suzuki motorcycle will have a completely built-up (CBU) status. It is highly likely that it will be imported from India.
It is also mentioned that their new product candidate will be in the same class as the Suzuki Burgman Street.
So, it is worth waiting for the appearance and launch time of the new Suzuki motorcycle, the replacement for the Avenis 125 in Indonesia.
For your information, the reason the Suzuki Avenis 125 is no longer being sold is because its sales were far below expectations.
Therefore, they chose to focus on selling motorcycles that are more in demand by domestic consumers.
"I forget the numbers (for Avenis sales), but it was far below the Suzuki Burgman Street,” Agha continued.
To give an idea, Agha mentioned that sales of the Suzuki Burgman Street reach 300 to 400 units per month.
Meanwhile, the Avenis 125 only sold tens of units. For that reason, Suzuki decided to stop the import process for that product.
