KatadataOTO – Suzuki is ready to launch two new motorcycles that will be present in the second half of the year. This move is expected to show that the manufacturer is still serious about working on the two-wheeled vehicle market in Indonesia.
Although it has a fairly complete lineup, Suzuki is indeed considered less aggressive in working on the two-wheeled vehicle market. Therefore, the arrival of two new products will certainly be a significant event.
“We will launch two new products in the sport and automatic scooter segments. They will likely be brought in during the second half of 2025,” said Christoporus Prasetyanto, Head of 2W Sales & Digital Marketing at PT Suzuki Indomobil Sales (SIS).
However, he declined to provide details on which motorcycles would be brought to the country.
It should be noted that currently on the official Suzuki website, there are 11 models sold in Indonesia. These units are available in the sport and automatic scooter segments, which are the largest markets in the country.
With these many options, Suzuki has sold 14,040 motorcycle units throughout Indonesia. This figure is actually slightly below their 2024 target of 15,000 units.
Besides introducing new products, they also ensure they will provide better services in 2025. One of which is to ensure the ease of purchasing genuine spare parts so that customers can maintain their vehicles optimally.
Meanwhile, new motorcycle sales in 2024 recorded positive results. Based on AISI (Indonesian Motorcycle Industry Association) data, sales reached 6,333,310 units.
That number is an increase of 96,318 units from the 2023 achievement of 6,236,992 units. This figure is claimed to still be in line with the association's target of 6.3 million units throughout 2024.
Meanwhile, for 2025, AISI hopes that sales will increase despite several challenges such as the tax surcharge.
“We are still waiting for the full implementation of the surcharge in several regions, only after all are in will we set the target for this year,” affirmed Sigit Kumala, Head of the Commercial Division of AISI, to KatadataOTO some time ago.
