Yamaha states that the Gear Ultima 125 Hybrid is not targeting the entry-level segment after its refresh.

KatadataOTO – The Yamaha Gear Ultima 125 Hybrid has just been launched. A number of refreshments have been introduced by the Japanese manufacturer.

It's no wonder Yamaha claims their new motorcycle has moved up a class. No longer targeting the entry-level segment.
“The Yamaha Mio M3 is our entry-level model. Now, the Gear Ultima is not (included in that),” said Rifki Maulana, Manager of Public Relations, YRA & Community at YIMM (Yamaha Indonesia Motor Manufacturing) in Bandung, West Java, some time ago.
He mentioned that the Yamaha Gear Ultima 125 Hybrid is better when compared to other products in its class. Especially when discussing its features and specifications.
Therefore, according to Rifki, it is not appropriate if this one Yamaha matic motorcycle is still categorized as entry-level.
Furthermore, Rifki is confident that the presence of the Yamaha Gear Ultima 125 Hybrid will not erode the Mio M3's market, even though it is marketed with a price tag starting from Rp 19 million.
A difference of about Rp 1 million from its sibling. Because the Yamaha Mio M3 is marketed at only Rp 18.3 million.
“We are confident from our research that the segmentation we have implemented will not cannibalize each other,” Rifki affirmed.
For your information, the Yamaha Gear Ultima 125 Hybrid is indeed equipped with a number of modern features. Such as SSS (Start Stop System), a smart gadget charging socket, and an answer-back system.
Not to forget Yamaha's flagship feature, Y-Connect. It allows the rider to connect with the Yamaha Gear Ultima 125 Hybrid via a mobile device.
So you can monitor the vehicle's condition in real-time. Adding comfort and safety during the journey.
In addition, there is also an LED lighting system for the headlight. Then, a full TFT digital meter panel is embedded.
Meanwhile, for the mechanical heart, the Yamaha Gear Ultima 125 Hybrid carries a 125 cc liquid-cooled BlueCore Hybrid engine.
On paper, it is claimed to be able to deliver a maximum power of 8.3 hp at 6,500 rpm. And a peak torque of up to 10.6 Nm at 4,500 rpm.
It should be noted, the motorcycle is sold in two variants, namely the Hybrid S with color choices of Dark Grey and Silver.
Second is the standard Hybrid type equipped with several color options. For example, Dull Blue, Sand, Black, and Silver.
