Yamaha believes that the demonstrations still ongoing until today could affect the purchasing power of the Indonesian people.

KatadataOTO – Demonstrations are still ongoing in several areas until Sunday (31/08). Especially in the Jakarta area and its surroundings.
Several police stations and the Mobile Brigade Command Headquarters in the capital were attacked and burned by protesters of unknown identity.
Then, the residences of several state officials were also attacked and looted. Such as the homes of Uya Kuya, Ahmad Sahroni, Eko Patrio, and Sri Mulyani.
Of course, this situation is very detrimental to many parties. Because it brings a very negative impact, especially for business actors.
In addition, the automotive industry could potentially experience negative effects. Demonstrations can disrupt their production operations.
"As an industry, we certainly hope the situation remains conducive. Because it definitely has an impact, security is the most important (factor)," said Rifki Maulana, Public Relations, YRA & Community Manager of Yamaha Indonesia Motor Manufacturing (YIMM) in Bandung, West Java.
Rifki hopes the demonstrations, which are still ongoing today, will soon subside. Considering the activities have been going on for several days.
He believes that if the situation can become conducive again, the wheels of the nation's economy can start turning again.
This is because if the demonstrations last a long time, the public's sense of security in Indonesia will certainly be affected.
"It's an economic principle, people are more cautious in spending on something due to the unconducive situation," Rifki continued.
If a situation like this does not subside, it will consequently threaten the operations of domestic vehicle manufacturers.
Indeed, if you look at it, it not only impacts public purchasing power. But it also disrupts the raw material supply chain.
Furthermore, it has the potential to reduce the confidence of foreign investors. So it is very detrimental to domestic motorcycle manufacturers.
Moreover, the performance of the two-wheeled vehicle market in the country is currently sluggish, a condition that has been ongoing since the beginning of the year.
Thus, prolonged demonstrations become a stumbling block for the sale of new motorcycles in Indonesia.
"Hopefully, the situation will be conducive so that the wheels of the economy continue to run as they should," Rifki emphasized.
A similar sentiment was also expressed by Yannes Martinus Pasaribu, an automotive expert and academic from the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB).
Martinus urged the government and policymakers to immediately address the demonstrations.
"The government must cool down this potentially escalating situation by immediately responding to the various existing demands," Yannes told KatadataOTO some time ago.
By doing so, it is hoped that the heated situation can gradually become conducive. And not spread further to various sectors.
