Yamaha plans to add turbo or YECVT technology to the Lexi, which will increase its price by approximately Rp 4 million.
KatadataOTO – PT YIMM (Yamaha Indonesia Motor Manufacturing) has launched the latest Nmax and Aerox with the addition of YECVT (Yamaha Electric Continuous Variable Transmission), also known as Yamaha's turbo technology.
There is still one other scooter that has the potential to receive this turbo addition, namely the Lexi. Yamaha has also not ruled out the possibility of updating the Lexi with a turbo in the future.
“Yes, we are looking at consumer demand first. The turbo is indeed the latest feature and many appreciate it,” said Rifki Maulana, Manager of Public Relations, YRA & Community at PT YIMM in Jakarta recently.
However, he emphasized that adding a new feature to the Lexi would certainly cause its price to increase quite significantly.
Although reluctant to reveal the price range, Rifki said the calculation could be based on the Nmax turbo and non-turbo models.
“Perhaps it can be analyzed from the Nmax turbo and the non-turbo. It would be around that much,” said Rifki.
When asked if the Lexi turbo might be launched this year, he stated that they could not yet confirm.
For context, the lowest Yamaha Nmax scooter variant, the Neo Version, which is not equipped with YECVT, is offered to consumers at Rp 33.41 million on the road in Jakarta, while the Neo S Version is Rp 34.40 million.
The higher variants are already equipped with YECVT technology. There is indeed a price increase of around Rp 4 million to Rp 5 million, bringing the price to Rp 38.61 million.
The Turbo Tech Max type is offered at a higher price of Rp 44.11 million, and the top variant, the Turbo Tech Max Ultimate, is priced at Rp 46.09 million. The previous version of the Yamaha Nmax was sold for Rp 32.1 million to Rp 36.3 million.
Meanwhile, the Lexi is sold for Rp 26.28 million to Rp 30.94 million. Based on the Nmax calculation, the price range for the Lexi after the inclusion of YECVT would be around Rp 30 million for the lowest type up to Rp 35 million.
For your information, the YECVT system on Yamaha motorcycles is controlled by a Transmission Control Unit.
This feature can provide an extra power boost so the motorcycle gets additional torque, especially when tackling uphill terrain.
The YECVT can be operated via the Y-Shift button on the left side of the handlebar. There are three levels: Low (1), Medium (2), and High (3), which can be adjusted to the riding style and the road conditions being traversed.
