KatadataOTO – The Ministry of Transportation predicts the peak of the homecoming exodus for Eid 2025 will occur on March 28 or D-3. On that date, it is estimated that 12.1 million people will be traveling to their hometowns.

This number is certainly very large, so the public is expected to be careful when traveling to their hometowns. Especially for those who travel home using private vehicles.

“The peak of the homecoming exodus is predicted to occur on D-3 or March 28, 2025. At that time, there is a potential movement of 12.1 million people with the implementation of the Work From Anywhere policy,” said Dudy Purwagandhi, Minister of Transportation (14/03), as reported by Antara.

Meanwhile, the peak of the return flow is estimated to occur on D+5 or April 6, 2025. At that time, the potential movement of people will reach 31.49 million.

All these estimates are the results of a survey conducted some time ago. They revealed that the potential movement of people during the 2025 Eid holiday could reach 146.48 million people, equivalent to 52 percent of Indonesia's total population.

The results have been reported to President Prabowo Subianto and have also been communicated to stakeholders.

He also revealed that the government will implement policies to anticipate a surge in travelers, which has a high potential to cause congestion. Some of these include implementing a Work from Anywhere (WFA) policy, organizing free homecoming trips, and traffic engineering.

One of the main strategies is the One-Way system on D-3 of Eid al-Fitr, or on March 28, 29, and 30, 2025. Unlike the previous year, it will be implemented without interruption, so people who want to drive in the opposite direction must carefully adjust their travel schedules.

Not only that, the National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas Polri) is also ready to pay special attention to rest areas on toll roads, as they often become centers of traffic congestion. They will implement a stop-and-go system to prevent vehicle density, especially approaching the time for breaking the fast.

With this, it is hoped that the frequent traffic congestion can be minimized, thus ensuring that the public's driving comfort is maintained.
