Car Drifting in Pondok Indah Causes Unrest, Police Hunt Perpetrators

BPBD reported that 23 roads in Jakarta were affected by flooding due to heavy rain since Tuesday night.

KatadataOTO – High-intensity rain has hit several areas in Jakarta. This has been happening since Tuesday (28/1) night.
As a result, several locations have started to experience flooding. The Jakarta BPBD (Regional Disaster Management Agency) recorded that 53 neighborhood units (RT) and 23 roads were submerged.
“Moderate to heavy intensity rain in several areas has caused a rise in water levels at a number of monitoring posts,” said Isnawa Adji, Chief Executive of the Jakarta BPBD, to Antara on Wednesday (29/1).
Isnawa further stated that the average water level ranges from 30 to 100 cm. Motorists are advised to always be cautious.
He then explained that several areas in West Jakarta are experiencing floods. For example, one neighborhood unit (RT) in Cengkareng Barat sub-district, 11 RTs in Kedaung Kali Angke, four RTs in Rawa Buaya, two RTs in Jelambar Baru, and two RTs in Kalideres.
Then one RT in Pegadungan, five RTs in Tegal Alur, one RT in Duri Kepa, and one RT in Joglo.
Meanwhile, in Central Jakarta, flooding has hit one RT in Kebon Kosong sub-district. While in South Jakarta, it occurred in four RTs in Pejaten Timur sub-district.
Finally, for East Jakarta, there are 20 affected RTs. All are spread across Cakung Timur, Rawa Terate, Bidara Cina, Cawang, and Cililitan.
Isnawa also stated that the DKI Jakarta BPBD has deployed personnel to monitor conditions in all areas.
They are also coordinating with elements of the Water Resources Agency (Dinas SDA), the Road Development Agency (Dinas Bina Marga), and the Fire and Rescue Agency (Gulkarmat) to pump out the water.
