Fake Spark Plugs Widely Found in Jabodetabek, Be Vigilant

For that reason, Niterra Mobility Indonesia as the manufacturer of NGK spark plugs conducted an investigation some time ago.

In that activity, they found a number of facts. Such as areas with a high circulation of counterfeit products.

Take for example the areas of Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi (Jabodetabek).

“Until now we don't have very definite data, but we can say that Jabodetabek is still the largest area,” said Ammar Singh Gill, legal counsel for Niterra Mobility Indonesia in East Jakarta, Tuesday (16/12).

Indeed, if you look at it, the Jakarta area and its surroundings have a fairly large number of four-wheeled and two-wheeled vehicles.

So it has great potential for marketing a product. Including circulating counterfeit spark plugs.

Nevertheless, Niterra also found counterfeit NGK products in a number of other areas.

“From the results of our investigation, we also suspect there is a fairly large circulation in cities that have ports,” continued Ammar.

Ammar gave an example, they also found counterfeit spark plugs in the city of Surabaya, East Java. Then in a number of areas on the island of Sumatra.

Furthermore, Ammar revealed that Niterra suspects the counterfeit spark plugs are made abroad. Then repackaged in Indonesia with the NGK brand.

This makes enforcement by the authorities quite difficult. So extra effort is needed to eradicate it.

Nevertheless, Niterra continues to try to eradicate the individuals distributing counterfeit products.

Thousands of Counterfeit Spark Plugs Seized

As a reminder, Niterra confiscated a number of pieces of evidence from one of the major distributors. The amount was quite large, reaching 11 thousand units.

“Today we are destroying thousands of counterfeit spark plugs obtained from our series of investigative activities and other parties involved,” said Ammar.

This is a form of Niterra's commitment and seriousness, especially in combating widely circulated counterfeit goods.

Moreover, counterfeit spark plugs are very easy to find, both in roadside shops and through online purchases.

The existence of these counterfeit products is very detrimental, especially for consumers or motor vehicle owners.

Counterfeit products circulated by irresponsible parties are not just a matter of legal violation.

But they also pose a serious threat to NGK's reputation. Consumer trust and safety are also at stake.
