KatadataOTO – The circulation of counterfeit automotive components is not only in the oil or lubricant segment. But it also occurs in the spark plug market.
As discovered by Niterra Mobility Indonesia as the manufacturer of NGK spark plugs in the country.
They conducted an investigation with several parties, such as private investigators and the police.
As a result, 11 thousand counterfeit spark plugs were found on the market. They then confiscated the evidence to be destroyed.
“Today we are destroying thousands of counterfeit spark plugs obtained from our series of investigative activities and other parties involved,” said Ammar Singh Gill, legal counsel for Niterra Mobility Indonesia in East Jakarta, Tuesday (16/12).
Ammar explained that all the evidence was successfully found from one of the counterfeit spark plug distributors in the country.
This is a form of Niterra's commitment and seriousness, especially in combating widely circulated counterfeit goods.
Moreover, counterfeit spark plugs are very easy to find, both in roadside shops and through online purchases.
Therefore, the existence of these counterfeit products is very detrimental, especially for consumers or motor vehicle owners.
“We are carrying out this destruction of counterfeit spark plugs not as a symbolic event, but as a tangible manifestation of our commitment to preventing the wider circulation of counterfeit spark plugs in the market,” Ammar continued.
It was further explained that counterfeit products circulated by irresponsible parties are not just a matter of legal violation.
But they also pose a serious threat to NGK's reputation. Consumer trust and safety are also at stake.
“We also need to emphasize that our efforts to prevent, minimize, and stop the circulation of counterfeit spark plugs will not stop here,” Ammar asserted.
Niterra Mobility Indonesia ensures it will continue to combat the circulation of counterfeit NGK spark plugs in the country.
So that consumers can feel safe and comfortable using Niterra's products, while also restoring consumer confidence in the country.
“The existence of counterfeit spark plugs has clearly caused significant losses to consumers, including consumers making wrong choices when selecting spark plugs,” Ammar concluded.
In addition, the use of non-genuine goods can cause engine damage, a decrease in vehicle performance, and even endanger the owner's safety.
Moreover, the spark plug is one of the important components in a motor vehicle, so it is mandatory to use genuine products.
