KatadataOTO – Recently, a video has been circulating online showing a car drifting on a public road. More precisely, in the Pondok Indah area, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta.
This action has certainly disturbed the public, as it could endanger other road users.
The police immediately responded. They will investigate and search for the perpetrator of the drifting incident in Pondok Indah.
“Regarding the video circulating on social media of drifting in Pondok Indah, we will investigate it,” said Commissioner Mujiyanto, Head of the South Jakarta Metro Police Traffic Unit (Kasat Lantas), as quoted by Antara on Thursday (08/01).
According to Mujiyanto, the police are currently tracing the identity of the driver who disturbed the public.
In addition, they are examining the circulating video to understand the chronology and the violations that occurred.
“We will then trace the drifting activity,” Mujiyanto continued.
It was further stated that the car drifting on Pondok Indah Highway is very dangerous for the surrounding community.
Therefore, such activities are strictly prohibited in public areas. It has the potential to cause traffic accidents.
Mujiyanto emphasized that such activities should only be carried out in designated special places or areas.
For example, at the safety driving facility at the National Police Traffic Education Center (Pusdik Lantas Polri) in Serpong, South Tangerang, Banten.
“Any action that endangers other people or other drivers is very regrettable. Essentially, it's not in the right place,” he concluded.
The police are also preparing several strategic steps to prevent similar incidents from happening in the future.
This includes coordinating with relevant stakeholders to increase patrols around the Pondok Indah area.
The South Jakarta Metro Police are also considering adding traffic signs that drivers must obey.
“We are also proposing the installation of speed traps around that location,” Mujiyanto affirmed.
For your information, in a circulating video, a silver-colored sedan stopped at a red light near PIM 3 Mall.
Shortly after, the vehicle sped up and started drifting. It spun twice.
After that, the car immediately sped away from the scene. According to reports, this incident took place on January 3, 2026.
