KatadataOTO – The DKI government has prepared various ways to overcome traffic congestion in TB Simatupang. They have even prepared short and long-term handling measures so that congestion no longer occurs.

Yustinus Prastowo, Deputy Coordinator of the Special Staff for the Governor and Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta, revealed that the handling measures were discussed directly by a number of DKI Jakarta Provincial Government officials on Saturday (23/8).

“Governor Pramono Anung has held a limited meeting to get a complete field report, formulate solutions, and give instructions,” he said, as reported by Antara (25/08).

From the meeting, at least eight steps were taken to overcome the congestion. Here is the list.

  1. The government will conduct a thorough evaluation of the ongoing excavation projects. This includes the 7 km long Wastewater Treatment Plant (IPAL) work by Perumda Paljaya in Cilandak and the 4 km long Tanjung Barat low-cost apartment piping project.
  2. The DKI Provincial Government has instructed PAM Jaya and Paljaya to accelerate the work with a 24-hour non-stop system. In addition, both companies were asked to shorten the project fences, place flagmen, and take various other technical steps.
  3. Coordination with the central government will also be carried out to regulate the open-close system for toll road entrances/exits. This step is planned to be implemented during rush hours to reduce vehicle buildup.
  4. The DKI Provincial Government will utilize available areas as temporary stops or parking for public transportation. With this, it is hoped that there will be no buildup on the roadside when picking up and dropping off passengers.
  1. Sidewalks in the project area will also be temporarily used to widen the road, especially at bottleneck points. This step is being taken because the sidewalks in the affected locations cannot yet be used by pedestrians.
  2. Synergizing between institutions such as the National Police, the Department of Transportation, the Public Order Agency (Satpol PP), MRT Jakarta, Trans Jakarta, and other agencies to reduce congestion.

  1. Collaborating with Google and other navigation platforms to display the latest information about the ongoing projects, as well as providing alternative routes for road users.
  2. For a long-term solution, the DKI Provincial Government will study the construction of underpasses or flyovers at major intersections along TB Simatupang Road to control traffic flow.
