KatadataOTO – A number of roads in Bandung will be closed today, Tuesday (19/08). This is being done to support the Cultural Parade from Gedung Merdeka to Gedung Sate in celebration of the 80th Anniversary (HUT) of West Java Province.
The Cultural Parade will start from 15:00 to 18:00 WIB. The route will start from Gedung Merdeka – Soekarno street – Naripan street – Braga street, Suniaraja street (Viaduct) – Wastukencana street – L.L.R.E Martadinata street – H. Ir. Djuanda street – Diponegoro street and will end at Gedung Sate.
"During the event, several roads will be closed at certain hours as the parade procession passes," explained Mas Adi Komar, Head of the West Java Communication and Informatics Agency, as reported by Antara (19/08).
Although the event starts in the afternoon, the road closures will be implemented earlier. Asia Afrika street, as the starting point of the parade, from the Tamblong intersection to the Palaguna Intersection will be closed at 12:00 WIB.
Meanwhile, ABC, Perintis Kemerdekaan, and Wastukencana streets will be closed at 14:30 WIB.
In addition to closures, the government will also clear parking areas to ensure the parade runs smoothly. Starting from the side of Cikapundung Barat street, Cikapundung Barat Intersection – Braga Intersection, Braga Panjang, Suniaraja, Wastukencana to Diponegoro.
The parade itself is expected to be attended by around 3,000 participants. They will walk, ride horses, and use royal carriages.
During the event, motorized vehicles will not be allowed to operate from Gedung Merdeka, Asia Afrika, to the finish line at Gedung Sate in Bandung City.
The regional head is planned to lead his troops on horseback along a route estimated to be 4.2 kilometers long. The estimated travel time is approximately one hour.
"For that reason, we invite the public to witness this historic parade in an orderly manner and also ask for your understanding and apologize for the increased traffic congestion as a result,” he asserted.
For people who need to travel, it is advisable to find alternative routes and adjust their travel schedules. Thus, it is hoped that mobility can be maintained, even if it means taking a slight detour.
