KatadataOTO – Although not yet over, traffic accidents during Operation Ketupat 2025 are claimed to have decreased. The difference is a significant 30 percent compared to last year's records.

This achievement is considered a positive note, considering the Lebaran homecoming is a major event involving many parties.

“Traffic accidents decreased from 3,728 to 2,637 during the 2025 operation. So there is a 30 percent decrease in the number of accidents,” said Inspector General of Police Agus Suryonugroho, Head of the National Police Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas), as reported by Antara (07/04).

The low number of accidents also impacted the number of fatalities, which was considered lower. Although not specified exactly, there was a 47 percent decrease compared to last year.

Furthermore, Inspector General of Police Agus said that as many as 1.375 million vehicles have entered the Jakarta direction this Monday or D+6 of Lebaran. This number is expected to continue to increase until tonight.

“The projection for the return flow is approximately 2.2 million, while approximately 1.375 million vehicles have already entered the Jakarta direction. So, roughly 60 percent of the return flow has returned to the Capital City,” he said.

National One-Way System Still in Effect

To avoid congestion, traffic engineering in the form of one-way and contraflow systems is still being implemented on the Trans-Java toll road. This policy has been in place for several days due to the increasing number of passing vehicles.

Currently, a national one-way traffic engineering system is in effect from KM 414 of the Kalikangkung Toll Gate (GT) on the Batang-Semarang Toll Road to KM 70 of the Cikampek Utama GT on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road, followed by a 1-lane contraflow system from KM 70 to KM 47 towards Jakarta on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road section.

Since the start of the national one-way and contraflow traffic engineering on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road section, all road users heading east on the Trans-Java are directed to exit via the Cikampek GT at KM 71 of the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road.

Travelers are urged to prioritize safety and not to change lanes in unauthorized locations. If tired of driving, they can rest at the rest areas.
