KatadataOTO – After handling the homecoming exodus, the police are now focusing on facing the increase in the Lebaran 2025 return flow. This is because people will start resuming their activities on Tuesday (08/04).

The police estimate that the Lebaran return flow will begin on Saturday (05/04) until Monday (07/04).  Various traffic engineering schemes will be implemented to overcome traffic congestion.

“Later, during the peak of the return flow, if the routes are indeed very congested, there might be a waiver of fees or discounts on toll tariffs in certain areas,” said General Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo, the National Police Chief, as reported by Antara some time ago.

Not only that, they have also prepared various traffic engineering schemes to handle potential traffic congestion.

“Both local and national contraflow to oneway systems must be prepared thoroughly,” he said.
He said that this year the average travel time has been reduced by 42 minutes, making the average five hours and 21 minutes, which is 42 minutes faster than in 2024.

Opening Functional Toll Roads During the Return Flow

The police also plan to open a number of toll road sections functionally. One of them is the Tamanmartani toll gate, which is considered successful in reducing traffic density.

The 6.78 km toll road is opened one-way from Tamanmartani, Sleman, DIY to Prambanan, Klaten, Central Java. The infrastructure can be used by the public from April 1 to 7, 2025.

However, the road is only open from 07:00 WIB to 17:00 WIB. This is to ensure the driving safety of the public on the functional toll road.

Additionally, not all vehicles can use this route. Only category I cars are allowed to pass, and their speed is limited to only 40 km per hour.

Not only the Tamanmartani toll gate, the police will also open several other functional toll road sections to expedite the 2025 Lebaran return flow. Thus, it is hoped that the traffic density predicted to occur towards the end of the holiday season can be avoided.
