KatadataOTO – The peak of the homecoming exodus for Eid 2025 is predicted to occur today, Saturday (29/03). Therefore, people who are about to travel back to their hometowns are expected to prepare more thoroughly.

This is because congestion is expected to occur starting in the morning. So it is not impossible that the journey will experience obstacles at several points.

"For toll roads and arterial roads, the peak of the homecoming exodus is likely to be this morning (29/3), starting from last night until dawn. Especially on the island of Java, it will occur between 09.00 - 10.00 WIB," said General of Police Listyo Sigit Prabowo, Chief of the Indonesian National Police (Kapolri), as reported by Antara.

He has also prepared a number of traffic engineering schemes at several points prone to congestion. Starting from the implementation of local one-way systems, to regulating stop-go systems for routes leading to congested areas.

Not only that, the one-way system from Km 70 of the Cikampek Utama Toll Road to Km 414 Kalikangkung will also be implemented again. Thus, the flow of vehicles will be more controlled and will ease the journey for travelers.

The police will also cooperate with toll road operators to open a number of sections functionally. It is hoped that this will make it easier for people to find the best route to their destination city.

In addition to implementing traffic engineering, he also reminded travelers to be aware of the potential for bad weather during the trip. This is because the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that rain will fall in a number of areas in Central Java, DIY, and East Java.

To anticipate undesirable events, his party has prepared by opening a number of posts.

"At the integrated posts, we have prepared joint personnel from the National Police, Basarnas, and the TNI equipped with equipment for rapid response in the event of disasters such as landslides or other disasters. Of course, if flooding occurs, we have also prepared for evacuation," he said.

He ensured the readiness of a number of alternative routes to face the potential for floods, which could disrupt the smooth flow of the 2025 Eid homecoming exodus.

"We have prepared alternative routes in case the main route is flooded," said Sigit.
