Beware of Traffic Jams: Water Drainage Work in Cawang, East Jakarta.

KatadataOTO – Traffic congestion in the Cawang area, East Jakarta is expected to increase over the next few months. This is because the East Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency is currently constructing a channel in the area.

As a result, a portion of DI Panjaitan street will be closed while the work is ongoing. This situation has the potential to cause traffic congestion.

Therefore, the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency is implementing traffic engineering on the road from August 11 to December 22, 2025. One of the measures is to dismantle a 150 m section of the busway separator to create mixed traffic, which will be reinstalled after the work is completed.

Additionally, the U-turn location in front of the Wika Tower building will be closed situationally. Vehicles wishing to make a U-turn will be redirected to the next point, which is above the Cawang underpass.

It should be noted that this project will be carried out in five stages. The work will be carried out at night from 10:00 PM WIB to 4:00 AM WIB.

All work areas will be covered in the morning with steel plates to ensure they are safe for vehicles to pass over.

Stages of Water Channel Construction in Cawang

• The first stage will be carried out from August 11 to October 19, 2025. The location is in front of the Park Hotel.
• The second stage will be implemented from September 10 to October 16, 2025. The work location is in front of Patria Park.
• The third stage will be implemented from August 14 to November 22, 2025. The work will be done in front of Yodya Karya.
• The fourth stage will take place from October 14, 2025, to November 22, 2025. This project will be worked on in front of the Wika Tower.

• The fifth stage will run from September 12 to December 21, 2025. The location is in front of Perumnas.
• The sixth stage will take place from November 12 to December 21, 2025. The work will be done in front of Perumnas.
• The seventh stage will run from August 21 to November 27, 2025. The location is in front of Brantas 1 street.
• The eighth stage will be carried out from August 30 to December 22, 2025. The work will be implemented in front of Brantas 2 street.
