Shell is still in negotiations with relevant parties, while BP AKR has agreed to purchase base fuel from Pertamina.
KatadataOTO – One of the private fuel oil (BBM) companies in Indonesia, BP AKR is active again after its RON 92 gasoline stock recovered.
It should be noted that previously, the gasoline stock of all private fuel companies, including Vivo and Shell, was empty due to the import quota which was said to have been exhausted.
Then, a single-gateway import scheme was implemented through Pertamina, but brands like Shell canceled their purchase because the supplied gasoline did not meet the company's criteria.
However, recently within a two-week period, BP AKR is said to have purchased 100 thousand barrels of pure fuel or base fuel from Pertamina Patra Niaga at the end of October 2025.
This was stated by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) recently.
“In two more weeks, BP AKR has ordered another cargo of 100 thousand (barrels), in the third week of November,” said Laode Suleman, Director General of Oil and Gas at the Ministry of ESDM, as quoted from Antara, Saturday (08/11).
Besides BP AKR, another private gas station, Vivo, is said to be nearing a deal to purchase 100 thousand barrels of base fuel from Pertamina Patra Niaga.
Meanwhile, Shell is still in the negotiation stage with related parties for the decision to purchase fuel.
Seeing the current scarcity, he did not deny that there is a chance the additional 10 percent import quota scheme will be reinstated in 2026.
But to date, he emphasized that the government has not yet determined the amount of the import quota for the private Public Fuel Filling Stations (SPBU).
“The pattern is likely to be like that, 100 plus 10 percent. But the reference year is different, yesterday it was 2024, now it's 2025,” Laode affirmed.
For your information, BP's RON 92 gasoline, equivalent to Pertamax, is now available. Referring to the information on the official website, the price of BP 92 as of November 2025 is Rp 12,680.
Meanwhile, other types of fuel at BP that can be purchased by consumers are BP Ultimate (RON 95) for Rp 13,260, and BP Ultimate Diesel for Rp 14,410. The listed prices are valid for the Jabodetabek area.
