KatadataOTO – The Yogyakarta Special Region Police will prepare traffic engineering during the 2025 Eid holiday season. This is important because it is estimated that 6 million people will enter the region during that period.
This number is actually lower than the number of visitors during the 2025 New Year holiday.
“Compared to the New Year holiday, the prediction reaches 9 million. For Eid this year, it's about 6 million people,” said Police Brigadier General Adi Vivid Agustiadi Bachtiar, Deputy Chief of the DIY Regional Police, as reported by Antara (17/03).
Nevertheless, the potential for traffic congestion remains high as it is estimated that 1.5 million vehicles will enter DIY.
Therefore, he will prepare various traffic arrangements, including for the functional opening of the Jogja-Solo toll road up to the Tamanmartani exit.
"We and our staff are ready, including for the functional opening of the toll gate. It will be adjusted according to the situation on the ground," he added.
The DIY Regional Police have also installed three CCTV monitoring points for incoming vehicles and one point for outgoing ones. From there, they can make decisions regarding traffic engineering.
“The government is also implementing a work from anywhere (WFA) policy, so the holiday period is longer and people have more flexibility in planning their trips,” said Police Senior Commissioner Yuswanto Ardi, Director of Traffic for the DIY Regional Police.
The Jogja-Solo toll road up to the Tamanmartani exit is planned to be functionally opened starting Monday (24/04). However, road users need to note that this functional toll road is not yet adequately equipped.
"Functional means it can only be passed through, but some facilities are still incomplete. This toll road will also only be open during the day due to limited lighting," he explained.
He also reminded that the capacity of the Tamanmartani exit is much smaller than the toll road. Therefore, people who want to use it must be extra cautious.
"This toll exit will lead to a district road with limited capacity, which could cause congestion. We advise those who do not need to exit at Tamanmartani to choose the Prambanan exit," concluded Police Senior Commissioner Yuswanto.
