Elon Musk Says Tesla Cybertruck Not Suitable for Terrorists

KatadataOTO – Kicking off the new year, a Tesla Cybertruck unit in the United States exploded right in front of the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Las Vegas police found that there were a number of explosives and fireworks in the pickup's bed.

According to the authorities' investigation, the explosion was controlled by the driver. The Tesla Cybertruck unit involved was known to be a rental from Colorado.

As a result of the incident, the Tesla Cybertruck driver was pronounced dead, and about seven other people near the vehicle were injured.

In response, the Tesla CEO reiterated that the explosion was not caused by a fault or problem with the Cybertruck.

“The bad guy chose the wrong car for a terrorist attack. The Cybertruck actually contained the explosion and directed it upwards, even the glass lobby doors (of the hotel) were not damaged,” said Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, via his personal X account, quoted on Thursday (2/1).

He further emphasized that the Tesla Cybertruck was in good condition and had no damage that could have triggered the explosion at the time of the incident.

“The Cybertruck is the worst choice of vehicle to turn into a car bomb, because its stainless steel armor will contain the blast better than any other commercial vehicle,” he said.

To date, the Las Vegas police are still investigating the motive for the explosion and the parties responsible.

“There was no ISIS flag like the one we found in New Orleans,” said Kevin McMahill, Sheriff of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
