KatadataOTO – The DKI Transportation Agency has officially implemented traffic engineering on Sultan Agung to Minangkabau streets, Jakarta Selatan. The policy will be in effect from Monday (27/01) until August 31, 2026.

The long duration of the traffic engineering is due to the construction of the Jakarta Integrated Light Rail Transit (LRT) Phase 1B project. To ensure smoothness and safety, traffic engineering must be implemented.

“Road users are advised to avoid these road sections and to adjust to the established traffic arrangements, obey traffic signs, follow instructions from officers in the field, and prioritize safety on the road,” said Syafrin Liputo, Head of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Transportation Agency, as reported by Antara (29/01).

It should be noted that the government is currently building public transportation, including the Jakarta LRT phase 1B Velodrome-Manggarai. The work, which has been ongoing since December 31, 2024, has reached 42.3 percent completion.’

Although it will take a long time, the Jakarta LRT Phase 1B project is claimed to be on schedule as agreed upon by the project's person in charge, namely PT Jakarta Propertindo (Perseroda) (Jakpro) in an operational cooperation (KSO) with PT Waskita Karya Tbk, PT Nindya Karya, and PT Len Railway System/WNL).

It is hoped that with the LRT, public dependence on private vehicles can be reduced. Thus, traffic congestion can be reduced in the future.
