KatadataOTO – The Association of Indonesia Automotive Industries (Gaikindo) is confident the target for domestic car sales at the end of the year can be achieved.

It should be noted that Gaikindo had set an initial car sales target of 850 thousand units amidst various economic challenges.

As of October 2025, new car sales in the country reached 660 thousand units. This means that to reach the target, sales for November and December must each reach 95 thousand units.

However, monthly car sales throughout 2025 have arguably struggled to even reach the 60 thousand unit mark.

Nevertheless, Gaikindo is optimistic that car sales can at least approach the initial target set.

“At least chase that number, close to 800 thousand (units),” said Putu Juli Ardika, Chairman of Gaikindo, when met in Tangerang some time ago.

According to him, a lot of extra effort is currently needed to maintain public purchasing power until the year-end momentum.

This requires cooperation from various related parties. From the government as policymakers to Brand Holder Agents (APM) through programs or promotional offers.

Putu continued that the Gaikindo Jakarta Auto Week or GJAW 2025 exhibition is expected to realize these things.

“Hopefully this is facilitated (through the exhibition), the prices are truly affordable, there are many programs that can be used to get a vehicle at the end of this year,” Putu affirmed.

However, he was reluctant to comment on the possibility of Gaikindo revising the car sales target. Previously, Jongkie Sugiarto as the First Chairman of Gaikindo had spoken about the possibility of a revision.

For your information, the GJAW 2025 automotive exhibition is Gaikindo's hope to boost car sales towards the end of the year.

Claimed to be different from most automotive exhibitions, GJAW 2025 focuses on sales programs that can make it easier for consumers to buy vehicles.

The exhibition is also supported by the presence of various leasing or financing companies with various attractive credit packages.

The presence of new models also enlivens this exhibition. The Chinese brand, Changan, makes its debut bringing two flagship products, namely Changan Deepal S07 and Lumin, then there is Jeep making its first appearance under the Indomobil Group.

Then, what is no less exciting is the appearance of the Veloz Hybrid. The legendary MPV is now more efficient.
