KatadataOTO – The Jakarta odd-even policy for January 1, 2025, is still suspended, so the public can still travel freely on the capital's streets. This suspension is in effect because it coincides with a national holiday.

The suspension of Jakarta's odd-even policy during the 2025 New Year holiday is in accordance with the Joint Decree of the Minister of Religious Affairs, the Minister of Manpower, and the Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform of the Republic of Indonesia concerning National Holidays and Collective Leave for 2025.

This decision is also consistent with Governor's Regulation Number 88 of 2019, article 3, paragraph 3, which states that traffic restrictions using the odd-even system are not enforced on Saturdays, Sundays, and national holidays established by Presidential Decree.

"We urge road users to obey traffic signs and regulations, follow the instructions of officers, and prioritize safety on the road," said Syafrin Liputo, Head of the Jakarta Transportation Agency, as quoted by Antara some time ago.

Therefore, it is hoped that people who wish to travel can use their private vehicles more freely. This policy will certainly benefit the public and boost the capital's tourism sector.

Nevertheless, the public is advised to remain vigilant for potential congestion, especially on roads leading to tourist attractions. This is because today is expected to be used by residents for vacationing.

A number of officers will be stationed at several locations to ensure smooth traffic flow and prevent excessive vehicle buildup.

To welcome the new year 2024, several public transportation services such as Transjakarta, MRT, and LRT Jakarta are making it easier for the public to enjoy the holidays. This is because they are offering a fare of Rp 1 for each passenger trip on all routes.

The program has been running since Tuesday (31/12) and will end today (01/01) to make it easier for the capital's residents to enjoy the 2025 New Year holiday. The program is also expected to reduce traffic congestion that may occur at popular tourist spots.
