KatadataOTO – The Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) is accelerating preparations for the 2025 Eid homecoming. One of these preparations is conducting ramp checks.
They have just inspected all homecoming buses at the Kampung Rambutan Terminal, East Jakarta.
Unfortunately, officers found many buses that were not roadworthy to transport travelers to their hometowns for Eid 2025.
Several buses were found using retreaded or reconditioned used tires. This is certainly very dangerous for both passengers and drivers during the journey.
Because their performance becomes unstable, they wear out quickly, and have a high potential to burst when used on the highway.
"Also, non-compliant seats, obstructed emergency doors, and cracked or broken windows are common findings," said Suparman, an Inspector from the Motor Vehicle Testing Service Unit (UPPKB), to Antara on Monday (24/03).
Suparman explained that his team also found expired permits.
This situation is certainly very unfortunate. Especially since it's happening during the 2025 Eid homecoming season.
Considering the high demand for buses to transport people to their hometowns.
Additionally, since the beginning of the year, there have been many fatal accidents involving large vehicles like buses.
On the other hand, Suparman stated that there are 24 inspection elements that must be present, in good condition, and compliant, as they are vital when the bus is in operation.
For your information, 42 buses from various bus companies (PO) have been deemed unfit to operate during the 2025 Eid homecoming.
He said that most of the unroadworthy bus companies operate routes to areas in Sumatra and Java.
All the results of the ramp checks on homecoming buses were then handed over to the Kampung Rambutan Terminal authorities for follow-up.
In this case, the UPPKB only provides recommendations, but the final decision rests with the management of the Kampung Rambutan terminal.
"We note the recommendations for repairs and these deficiencies and consult with the terminal head or terminal staff," Suparman continued.
Meanwhile, Mulyono, the Controller of Kampung Rambutan Terminal, said that if a bus fails the ramp check, they will firmly not allow it to depart.
"Yes, after they return from their respective islands, we will check them again. If they are not compliant, we will be forced not to dispatch them," said Mulyono.
