Pertamina's Investigation Results Regarding Water-Contaminated Fuel in Klaten

KatadataOTO – Pertamina is investigating a case of fuel (Bahan Bakar Minyak) mixed with water at a gas station (Stasiun Pengisian Bahan Bakar Umum) in Trucuk, Klaten Regency, Central Java.

In an internal investigation conducted by the state-owned company, they found a violation of operational procedures.

In fact, the mistake was made intentionally by the fuel tanker crew and the gas station attendant. This resulted in water content in the Pertalite being sold.

Based on these findings, Pertamina Patra Niaga sanctioned the tanker crew, with initials MJW and Y, with dismissal. They were proven to have committed violations that harmed the public.

Pertamina also suspended the operations of gas station with code 44.574.29 indefinitely, until the thorough investigation is complete.

“We have also deactivated the gas station attendants involved (in the case of fuel mixed with water),” said Taufiq Kurniawan, Area Manager of Communication, Relations, and CSR for Pertamina Patra Niaga Central Java Region, to Antara on Thursday (10/04).

Furthermore, Pertamina handed over the tanker crew and the Trucuk gas station attendants to the Klaten Police. They will be further processed legally.

On the other hand, Taufiq confirmed that the Trucuk gas station, Klaten Regency, Central Java, will be responsible for resolving complaints from the 12 vehicle owners affected by the case of fuel mixed with water.

This includes repairing the vehicles at a workshop and refilling the vehicles with Pertamax fuel instead of Pertalite.

For your information, previously Bahlil Lahadalia, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), stated that he would investigate this incident.

“I just found out, I will check and call Lemigas to investigate,” said Bahlil Lahadalia on a different occasion.

Bahlil stated that he would take firm action against the Pertamina gas station with code 44.574.29 if the case of fuel mixed with water is proven true.

“The government will take a firm stance in accordance with applicable regulations,” Bahlil continued.

“A new product from Pertamina, now Pertamina sells mineral water,” the account wrote.
