KatadataOTO – Although the peak of the homecoming exodus has passed, the police must remain vigilant for a surge in traffic on the first day of Eid 2025. This is because an increase in mobility is expected in various locations.

In fact, an increase in the homecoming flow is predicted after the Eid prayer. This is because there may still be people who have not yet departed for their hometowns.

“Of the predicted 2.1 million people who will be traveling for the homecoming, 20 percent still remain. So there will usually be a surge after family gatherings," said National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, as reported by Antara.

To overcome this, he has ordered his staff to prepare various alternative traffic engineering schemes. It is hoped that traffic congestion can be avoided.

“Both local and national contraflow and one-way systems must be thoroughly prepared,” he said.

Regarding the peak of the homecoming exodus, which took place on Friday (28/3), he noted that 258,383 vehicles passed through the toll roads, and the return flow is predicted to occur on April 5-7, 2025.

“Later, during the peak of the return flow, if the routes are very congested, there might be a waiver of toll fees or discounts in certain areas,” he added

He said that this year the average travel time has been reduced by 42 minutes, making the average five hours and 21 minutes, which is 42 minutes faster than in 2024.

Ready to Secure a Number of Vulnerable Locations

Not only making preparations to avoid traffic congestion, he also confirmed that troops have been deployed to several vulnerable points. This step aims to ensure that the Eid al-Fitr celebration can proceed peacefully.

At least more than 78,000 mosques throughout Indonesia will receive special attention from the police. A number of officers will be on guard there to maintain security.

“There are about 78,506 mosques and 38,390 locations used to perform the Eid prayer,” he then said.
With this, it is hoped that the 2025 Eid celebration can be safer and more orderly.
